Veterinary Diagnostics Institute (VDxl)

Veterinary Diagnostics Institute is a specialty veterinary reference lab. VDxl currently offers the 1st and only canine and feline specific blood tests to detect heart disease in cats and dogs. Canine CardioCare and Feline CardioCare are simple blood tests that measure levels of the cardiac hormone NT-proBNP. NT-proBNP is elevated in animals that have underlying heart disease. The test is beneficial in detecting heart disease even before the animal shows outward signs of disease. A recently published independent study demonstrated that 17% of the dogs studied had heart disease in the absence of clinical signs or murmur and that a BNP blood test was effective in identifying these dogs with heart disease.
